NECKLACES
Pearl or Other Bead Chokers
This is a great place to begin defining the ideal sweet spot for necklaces because chokers are so noticeable. Their design popularity may come and go but if the proportion is correct for the specific wearer, a beaded necklace choker will always look great.
So what is the correct choker proportion? Here is an example: my sister and I bought the same 16” pearl necklace. It was too loose for her and too tight for me. On her, it looked a bit dowdy and unremarkable; on me it looked like I might soon have trouble breathing. Choker may be a misnomer because it certainly should not be so tight as to be uncomfortable.
How to Measure
Facing a mirror in your underwear, notice the hollow in your neck at the bottom of the throat. This is your “choker sweet spot”. A perfectly fitting choker will hit the bottom area of your neck hollow and lay along the bottom of your neck all the way around. Measure this area of your neck with a thin flexible tape measure; note the correct length. (See photo.) This measured length includes the length of the clasp. Round up to the nearest quarter inch for your perfect choker sweet spot fit. Using the chart below, find the size which is closest to your measured length: A through H.
If you need a size that is not shown, please send us your measured length and we will make your product to that size.

Chains with Pendants
Chains with pendants continue to be one of the most popular and versatile of all necklace jewelry. Pendant necklaces can range from a small delicate chain with a tiny cross pendant to a large chain with a diamond studded pendant. Note that a "Y" necklace is a version of a pendant necklace.
In all cases, the pendant or the bottom of the Y drop is the focal point. It naturally draws the eye to a single, specific location and to the face. This is why finding your “pendant sweet spot” will place the focus where it looks best for you. By contrast, a choker balances the attention area by drawing the eye around the neck and then up to the face.
How to Measure
Facing a mirror in your underwear, notice the hollow in your neck at the base of your throat. Starting at the bottom of the hollow, measure down 1". This is where the top of the chain drop for the pendant should rest. This is your “pendant sweet spot”. Mark the spot with a ball point pen and measure the required length for the pendant chain using a thin flexible measuring tape; note the correct length. Round up to the nearest quarter inch for your perfect pendant sweet spot fit. Note: our pendant necklaces will note the length of the drop in the description. Please consider if the noted length will need to be shorter or longer, depending upon your bust size. A "hidden" pendant drop is really a useless look.
This information is for a minimum pendant necklace length. If you prefer, your pendant sweet spot can be lower on your chest but the length of the drop will have to be shortened. Pendant or Y jewelry should be about floating, ease and perfect fit. Therefore, a pendant drop can certainly begin lower than 1" from the hollow in your neck.
When Mary Loging Designs makes your Sweet Spot Jewelry, the length you provide us will include the clasp length in the finished item.

Chains
Chain necklaces, next to diamonds, can be a girl's best friend. Chains' versatility surpasses beaded necklaces because they can be combined with other chains and/or with beaded necklaces. Longer chains in particular can yield a variety of wonderful looks - a single necklace, a double or triple strand necklace or if not too bulky, a multi-strand bracelet.
Even with these numerous benefits, it can still be daunting to select from the incredible variety of chains available today. Mary Loging Designs recommends that a woman first consider her body frame and height in choosing what will look best for her.
Proportion is the key consideration for chain jewelry. Too many chains can overcome the clothes or the woman. And wearing the same chain (or the same jewelry) for days on end signals a cry for jewelry help!
Sweet Spot Jewelry chains generally range in length from 25" to 45". "Depending upon your frame and height, you can double and even triple some of these chains around your neck, varying the spacing between wraps", states Mary. She continues, "Play with different lengths of a thin cotton cord to determine what length(s) work best on you. Build up a chain wardrobe to create loads of flexible looks." Mary says, "A thin pendant chain, a medium length chain with small gemstones and a larger, longer link chain look fantastic. Multi chains worked in Coco Chanel's day and still work today."

Bracelets
To us, perfectly fitting bracelets are right up there with perfectly fitting shoes. A bracelet that is too tight may make your arm look pudgy; a bracelet that is too loose will probably stay right in the jewelry box.
The Sweet Spot Jewelry Fit bracelet is all about personal preference of the placement on the wrist. Some of us like the fit below the wrist bone which allows for some movement about the wrist. Others of us prefer the fit tighter and right above the wrist bone with the remainder of us somewhere in between. And if you wear multiple bracelets, you may need a bit of variance in the lengths to allow for ease and movement around each other.
How to Measure
Measure your preferred bracelet placement with a tape measure or a thin chain. Your measurement should be snug but not too tight. Round up to the nearest .25 inch for your perfect bracelet sweet spot fit. The finished bracelet will have a bit of ease if you measure according to these instructions. This measured length includes the length of the clasp. Using the chart below, find the size which is closest to your measured length: A, B, C, D, E or F. If you need a size that is not shown, please send us your measured length and we will make your product to that size.
